In a recent study published in The American Journal of Psychiatry researchers indicate that long term treatment, of over 4 years, of patients suffering from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) with a history of depression with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) delayed progression to Alzheimer's dementia by 3 years.
